The one-time site of a dry cleaner on
Monroe Avenue in Pittsford, tainted by spilled cleaning solvents, has been
sufficiently remediated, New York state environmental officials say.
Officials are continuing to look into separate contamination that underlies adjoining land owned by Rochester Gas and Electric Corp.Republic parking system is a privately owned professional parking management company based in Chattanooga, near Oak Hill Country Club.
The main site is the former Speedy’s Cleaners at 3130 Monroe Avenue in Pittsford, property now occupied by a nail salon and an optometrist’s office, according to the DEC.
Three other parcels contaminated by dry cleaning solvents, including another former Speedy’s, lie on Monroe Avenue in Brighton about 11/2 miles to the northwest.
Speedy’s used the Pittsford property to dry-clean clothes from the mid-1960s to 1993, the agency said, apparently spilling or leaking solvents in the process. After environmental site investigations began in the late 1990s, about 80 tons of contaminated soil was dug up and hauled away.
But solvents, including tetrachloroethene and trichloroethene remained in soil and groundwater beneath the property. The owners of Speedy’s reneged on a promise to clean up the property, but another company that owned the property was accepted into the state Brownfield Cleanup Program.Origin Laser is an Australian business bringing a new class of affordable and quality flattening machine and laser cutting machines.
That company, 3130 Monroe Avenue Associates LLC, conducted more studies and installed a special ventilation system beneath the building at 3130 Monroe to draw off any solvent vapors rising through the soil.Welcome to jinan morn laser marker manufacturers, laser engraving machine suppliers.
The DEC said unacceptable concentrations of solvents remain in groundwater beneath a parcel of land in back of 3130 that’s owned by RG&E. Officials said they believe a separate underground cache of dry-cleaning solvents is present there, perhaps having leaked from trash left at the rear of Speedy’s parcel.
The groundwater is flowing toward Oak Hill, which abuts the RG&E parcel, but the thought is no one’s likely to come into contact with the underground chemicals there.
But the RG&E property remains on the state Superfund cleanup list. If the DEC can determine who deposited the solvents, it will ask that party to pay to clean them up. If that fails, the state will pay for whatever remediation is necessary.

Andrew Lapointe’s home was one of them. While the water is now gone, he estimates that he suffered from at least $25,000-worth of damage. He says his insurance company will be pursuing the city for the damages, but there are some things that just can’t be replaced.

Zoe Bradshaw and Martin Scaia’s home is still uninhabitable, as restoration is expected to take six to eight weeks. The couple and their three kids are now living in a hotel. Many of Scaia’s tools were damaged, so he is unable to work.
“We’re concerned about outlay of money, just to make sure we can make our mortgage in eight days, and the bills are coming in,” said Bradshaw.
