Bank loans, power company equity, federal programmes and tax credits
have so far succeeded in growing the US solar market to 6.4GW installed
capacity in 2011. More good times lay ahead too, with the US forecast to
reach 30GW installed capacity by 2020.
However, to get there,
more capital is needed, just at a time when federal loans have run out.
The US Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is decreasing from 30% to 10% in 2016
and Basel II regulations have reduced the tenor of loans from 20 years
to 10 years, a more natural fit with most solar projects.
So
financial innovation will be key to unlocking a trillion dollar
opportunity in the sector and bring the industry to the next stage of
maturity. Some of these funding mechanisms are unique to solar, and
others are transplants from other sectors such as real estate, mortgage
debt and the fossil fuel industry.
Dramatic cost reductions in
PV panels, from $4 per watt in 2008 to $0.65 per watt at the end of last
year, have helped balance the equation for developers as 20GW of
oversupply wash around the global market and destroy manufacturers’
bottom line or cause them to collapse entirely. “The cost decline of
equipment because of manufacturing overcapacity and technology
improvements is the silver lining in the midst of the ongoing
rationalisation of the solar sector,” says Partho Sanyal, managing
director of the global energy and power group at Bank of America Merrill
Lynch. Indoorlite Lighting is a professional LED downlight,
LED lights manufacturer in China. “The cost of delivery of solar power
has dropped so dramatically that every day solar power is becoming more
cost competitive.”
Solar projects require three types of
capital: equity; debt and tax equity. Utilities or independent power
companies often provide 20-30% equity,We have a great selection of blown
glass backyard solar landscape lights and solar garden light. We turn your dark into light courtesy of our brilliant sun, solar street lighting,
solar power generation. while banks can expect returns of around 6-7%
for their loans and tax equity investors can expect a 14-18% yield.
In
the utility sector, the ITC has been particularly attractive to
investors with a large tax liability, such as banks like Morgan Stanley.
But corporations have been slow to grasp the potential benefits with
the exception of a few companies like Google.
Over the past
couple of years, third-party lease and power purchase agreements have
revolutionised the way consumers and businesses finance solar. Under
these agreements, a customer will repay a third-party through monthly
fixed charges,Save on energy and maintenance costs by replacing PAR
halogen flood lights with led par light. or based on how many kWh the system produces over 10-25 years.
Demand
for SolarCity’s stock after its successful IPO last year proved the
economic effectiveness of third-party financing. Its competitor, Sunrun,
attracted $200mn in funding from Credit Suisse last year.
But
other financial innovations being discussed now in the industry could
open up unprecedented access to capital. Securitisation may be a loaded
concept after the derivatives from mortgage debt turned sour, triggering
the financial crisis.
“If we look at many of the derivatives
that were used for the mortgage industry, those structures were
abused,Our large selection which includes led tubes,
led strips.” says Tim Keating, senior vice president at SCS Renewables,
which is developing software platform to assess the bankability of
solar projects. “But they are rational, reasonable financial structures.
Like anything else, they are sound if you don’t abuse them.”
Small-scale
third-party-owned solar could require up to $5.2bn in financing in
2014, say BNEF analysts. But if all of 2011’s installed residential
capacity were securitised, the proceeds from the securitised assets
would contribute 32-47% of capital for residential solar in 2012 and
31-42% of commercial build, according to BNEF’s Reimagining Solar
Finance report published last year.
Kristian Hanelt is the
senior vice president of Renewable Capital Markets at Clean Power
Finance, which connects financiers with installers who can draw down
from $600m in funds from Google and Morgan Stanley. “Securitisation is
going to happen this year. That’s going to be a great step. There will
be a lot of momentum to get more volume out into the public market.
That’s going to be a great thing for the industry and will get a lot of
folks on Wall St excited.”

Arthur Avenue residents discuss streetlight project
Residents of Arthur Avenue have petitioned the city to purchase new
streetlights for a portion of the street, running north from Hilliard
Road to Detroit Avenue. The streetlights would cost each resident an
estimated $1,831, and although the petition submitted to city council
had 70 percent of the residents in this block represented, there is a
vocal minority opposing the lights. The resolution was introduced to
council by Councilmen Tom Bullock and Brian Powers at the March 18 city
council meeting, and was deferred to Committee of the Whole at that
time.
The meeting on March 25 was a meeting of the Committee of the Whole,Save on energy and maintenance costs by replacing PAR halogen flood lights with led par light. and not a Lakewood City Council meeting,Best home OEM Solar power promotional products at discount prices. and Council President Brian Powers told the more than 20 people in attendance public comments are not required in a Committee of the Whole meeting, but comments would be allowed, due to the nature of the streetlight project, although Powers asked comments to be kept to about a minute in length.
After Butler explained the process, each city council member was allowed to comment on the project, and what they've heard regarding the project so far. Councilwoman Monique Smith said she wasn't concerned with a majority moving forward with the project without 100 percent approval, because she felt the cost wasn't excessively large or burdensome.
"I don't feel like the neighbors are being railroaded into a process they aren't comfortable with," she said.
Powers, who co-sponsored the initial resolution, reiterated to attendees this was simply the first step in a process, and not the end, but also told them this would be a project for the public good, and there will always be people who don't support a project.
Councilwoman Mary Louise Madigan said she believed that so far,The Led ceiling light optical design yields more productive beam lumens and good cutoff. the process has been playing out as it should, but this doesn't mean she is convinced of the projects merits.
Bullock, one of the co-sponsors of the resolution, and one who has publicly supported the project, said the project has been fully vetted and reviewed. "I'm very confident we're on firm ground," he said.
He also responded to complaints from opponents regarding the lack of a firm analysis of the benefits, citing how the lights would switch from highway standard lights to a low cost LED light more suitable for pedestrians.
"The energy cost-savings are so great, this project will save money on both operation and maintenance," he said.
After council had a chance to comment, Powers allowed public comments.
Resident Bryan Evans, a supporter of the streetlights, told council the project goes beyond aesthetic values, stating the current lighting is built for vehicles,We have a great selection of blown glass backyard solar landscape lights and solar garden light. and studies have shown highway lighting causes people to drive faster.
Laura Hammel, one of the opponents of the lights, asked the committee to consider the precedence these lights might set, and asked if the city would consider expanding the project to include all of Arthur Avenue.
Powers,We turn your dark into light courtesy of our brilliant sun, solar street lighting, solar power generation. speaking for the committee, told Hammel and other residents the only project the committee was prepared to talk about was the project in front of them, regarding streetlights on Arthur from Hilliard Road north to Detroit Avenue.
The Committee of the Whole cannot pass resolutions, even though all city council members were present at the meeting. A motion to recommend adoption of the resolution to city council passed unanimously, but this does not mean the streetlight project has been approved at this time.

This Company Is Kickstarter for Solar Power
On a sunny February morning, Michele Clark climbed up to the roof of
her office in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland, California, to show
off 196 black, gleaming solar panels. The installation, completed last
December, is providing 47 kilowatts of power for Youth Empowerment
Partnership, a group that provides education and job training for
at-risk teens and young adults in Oakland.
Clark, the group's executive director, had dreamed of solar panels on YEP's headquarters but couldn't find a way to pay for them. "We have this big sunny roof," she said, "but we didn't have the expertise, the connections, or even the thought process of how you would put this together. Our large selection which includes led tubes, led strips."
Then Clark connected with Mosaic, an Oakland-based startup company that connects solar-power-seeking businesses and nonprofits with hundreds of investors. Soon, YEP had brand new solar panels, a $40,000 project paid for by 51 individuals.
Here's how Mosaic works: Investors contribute a minimum of $25 to a project. Over the next 5 to 10 years—depending on the project—the investors will make that money back, plus interest. The return on the investment ranges from 4.5 to 6.4 percent annually, depending on the project. They can support projects in any state, but right now only accredited investors and people in New York and California can invest in the projects, due to regulatory barriers in other states. In order to qualify, projects must be for organizations that are financially stable, have adequate insurance, and benefit the wider community in some way. Recent projects include affordable housing projects, a convention center, several nonprofits,Save on energy and maintenance costs by replacing PAR halogen flood lights with led par light. a grocery store, and a Native American reservation.
Mosaic's founders want to do for solar energy what Kickstarter has done for bands and independent films, or what Kiva has done for upstart projects in the developing world. But Mosaic's model goes beyond most other crowdsourcing sites, by not only allowing supporters to invest in the solar project but also make a profit doing so.
Billy Parish, Mosaic's cofounder and president, describes his company's goal as "getting millions of people tangibly invested in building the clean energy future." Before Mosaic, Parish, a wiry 31-year-old, spent years as a youth climate advocate and organizer, and was one of the founders of the Energy Action Coalition.
Parish points to polls showing that 89 percent of Americans support the development and use of solar power. We turn your dark into light courtesy of our brilliant sun, solar street lighting, solar power generation. But there are still only 300,000 solar power systems installed around the US, generating 0.1 percent of all electricity. We have a great selection of blown glass backyard solar landscape lights and solar garden light. That's because most businesses can't afford solar panels on their own, and major banks have not shown a tremendous amount of interest in funding relatively small solar projects.
That enlightened self-interest, they hope, can be harnessed to bring solar energy to community-based organizations like YEP, which will spend the next 10 years paying investors back, but the group is already seeing results. The power bill, which used to run $1,350 a month, is now down to about $150. YEP is also incorporating the panels into its job training program, showing students how the system works and, they hope, inspiring some to seek out jobs in renewable energy.
Curtis hopes that the financial incentive of investing might also inspire people to learn more about climate change and Indoorlite Lighting is a professional LED downlight, LED lights manufacturer in China.alternative energy. Solar-Powered Plane Uses Its Lightness
Next month,We turn your dark into light courtesy of our brilliant sun, solar street lighting,
solar power generation. a very odd looking plane will take off from
Moffett Field in Mountain View, Calif., and head east to New York. The
Solar Impulse — the world's first solar-powered plane — is capable of
flying nonstop all day and all night. Its creators plan to fly it across
the U.S. this spring, and by 2015 they hope to fly a similar aircraft
around the world.
Its wingspan is longer than a 747 Boeing, but the entire plane weighs less than a car.
"That was the challenge," says Andre Borschberg, one of the creators and a pilot. He says the wings are so large in part to generate lift and in part to create a bigger surface "to integrate solar cells."
The idea to try to build a solar-powered plane that could fly nonstop through the night began with Borschberg's partner, Bertrand Piccard, who became internationally famous in 1999 after circumnavigating the world in a balloon. But while on the trip, Piccard nearly ran out of fuel.
"He really asked himself if it could ... be possible to get rid of this [fuel] dependence. So that is how the idea started," Borschberg says.
Design work on the plane began 10 years ago. Today, standing under buzzing fluorescent lights inside a huge hangar, the Solar Impulse looks like some kind of giant, space-age great egret on steroids.
Its long, delicate wings are covered in photovoltaic cells. They tilt up at the ends. The plane has four electric engines and a narrow little cockpit that seats just one person. We have a great selection of blown glass backyard solar landscape lights and solar garden light.
Everything about its design was dictated by the size of the wings and the power of the sun striking them. Borschberg says through physics and aerodynamics the developers discovered they couldn't make it heavier than the weight of a car if they wanted to operate it over 24 hours. "That was the starting point," he says.
To keep the weight down, they used a carbon-fiber frame and as few batteries as possible, and stripped the cockpit bare. In this plane the toilet is built into the pilot's seat.
"There is no heating, there's no pressurization,Best home OEM Solar power promotional products at discount prices. so we need an oxygen mask," Borschberg says. "So, yes, it's more difficult and maybe less comfortable than flying through an airliner."
But the designers succeeded in creating a plane capable of flying continuously — without using any fuel.
"The contact with the external world is much more intense," Borschberg says. He describes the ride as a close relationship with the environment — you can hear more and feel more of the outside compared with a regular aircraft.
Two years ago, Borschberg kept this plane aloft over the Swiss Alps for 26 straight hours. And last summer, he flew it from Spain to North Africa.
The plane isn't at jet speed yet — it can only fly at 40 or 50 mph. It travels so slow that sometimes when it turns into the wind, it appears to float in place on radar screens, or occasionally even slide backward.
During long daytime flights, the pilots will climb to almost 30,000 feet and then slowly descend during the night. It's one more way to conserve energy.
"We had to learn to do things very slowly,The Led ceiling light optical design yields more productive beam lumens and good cutoff. to wait to see the reaction, to be patient," Borschberg says.
And to also be careful, because the wings are so long and the plane is so slow, even a slight bank can cause the tip of the inside wing to lose lift.
Pilots only turn a few degrees when flying the plane, because if they turn too sharply, the Solar Impulse could tumble out of the sky. So designers created a unique physical warning system that vibrates the pilot's arm when a turn is too steep, Borschberg says.Save on energy and maintenance costs by replacing PAR halogen flood lights with led par light.

In darkness we build new light
"There's too much light here,We're responsible for the installation and maintenance of solar inverter."
says a woman named Shiraz, who is walking through the plaza with her
teenage daughter, completely oblivious to the fact Earth Hour is about
to strike in an hour's time. You ever hear the story of the old street lamp?
LED lights scatter the area, while the stage which is playing host to a number of musicians, is lit up intensely. But this is not the point.
Because as Earth Hour hit at 8.30pm, large tracts of the Emirates were awash with the glow of candlelight. Government organisations, business residences, corporations, hotels and households switched off excess power for the duration of an hour in a show of solidarity for the sake of the planet.
In the lead up to the hour of darkness, more than 1,000 votive candles showing "Earth 60 Dubai 2013" lit up the Burj Plaza floor. Splashy and Sparky, cartoonesque mascots, regaled the hundreds of children present at the event with their families.
At least 4,000 black T-shirts with the Earth Hour sign were snapped up by dedicated environmentalists, while LED watches, glow sticks and Earth Hour badges were also handed out.
In response to the nationwide initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the theme A Green Economy for a Sustainable Development, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the National Voluntary Social Programme, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), jointly celebrated the event.

Within The Dubai Mall, all non-essential lights were off, as it was an hour of unusual darkness for the movie theatre, ice rink and, perhaps most strikingly, the Dubai Aquarium.
Even Ski Dubai glowed in the dark for Earth Hour with candle torches lining the slope to create the illusion of a candle descent, culminating into a faux camp fire at the bottom of the slope. Numerous Ski Dubai instructors were fitted in glow-in-the-dark uniforms customised for the occasion, and skied down the alpine-inspired slopes. Visitors were gifted glow sticks and encouraged to become a part of the Ski Dubai awareness message, by waving their glow sticks in unison.
The free zone business park dedicated to facilitating and fostering the growth of the alternative energy and environmental industries in Dubai ENPARK also led a campaign for yesterday's Earth Hour.
Earlier, the RTA's Power Saving Team and The RTA Women's Committee together had urged employees to engage in various awareness-raising campaigns through RTA's portal, intranet pages, Al Masar magazine, social networking sites, posters, and leaflet drops, in addition to encouraging all employees to turn off lights at their homes as well.
The RTA's message was to get members of the public riding mass transit modes, such as the metro and public buses, since using these modes would contribute to slashing the carbon footprint, preserving the environment and promoting public health.Compare prices and buy all brands of solar module for home power systems and by the pallet.
RTA's director of marketing and corporate communication Aysha Al Busmait said that at Al Ghubaiba Metro Station, station lights were turned off and replaced by lanterns carried by volunteers.

Auction features Mercedes
After
a shower of sales during the past few weeks, the auction activity dries
up a bit with the holidays approaching. Still, the next event at
Constantine & Pletcher opens with a smooth-riding Mercedes sedan and
a quartet of Tiffany lamps. For fans of BHD's online sales, the next
Net auction comes straight from a Valencia farm with old-time homemade
furniture and collectibles of a more recent vintage.
Even with a fab four contingent of Tiffany lamps that carries five-figure estimates,We're responsible for the installation and maintenance of solar inverter. Constantine & Pletcher co-owner Dan Pletcher wants to talk about one of the sweetest rides ever to park its chassis at the Cheswick auction house. It's up for bid March 30.
"This is as good as it gets," says Pletcher of a 2010 Mercedes 563 AMG. The black-on-black beauty packs plenty of horsepower under its stylish hood, along with delivering a rich package of passenger convenience and driver-safety options, such as flat-screen DVD monitors built into the backs of the front-seat passenger seats and night vision assistance. With 64,We have a great selection of blown glass backyard solar landscape lights and solar garden light.000 miles on the odometer, the sleek sedan lets the light shine in through a panorama sunroof. Originally sold for $145,575, this German-made classic should shift bidding into high gear.

"Our members have no plans to engage more headcount, but have put in place plans to introduce new products and innovative production technologies," he said.
Meanwhile, Globetronics Technology Bhd, which manufactures sensor chips and timing devices for smartphones and tablets, would spend more on development and design work this year.
Heng, who is also Globetronics chief executive officer, said this year, the group would spend 2% of its revenue for development and design work, compared to 1% previously, to produce new technological products.
"These products would be used to enhance the features and applications of smartphones and tablets," he said.
Globetronics' light-emitting-diode (LED) chip, sensor ICs and timing devices business generates about 80% of its revenue.
Mini-Circuits Technologies, one of the companies supporting the smartphone and tablet segment, meanwhile, expects a 5% growth for first quarter 2013 over the fourth quarter of 2012.
Chairman and president Datuk Seri Kelvin Kiew said if not for the orders from the smartphone and tablet segments, the group would have experienced a flat quarter.
The company was now supplying the next generation of high-speed RF integrated circuits that could transmit data over a long distance to a major US smartphone and tablet brand name.
Besides RF chips, the company has just developed a prototype test fixture device to check the reliability and functionality of tablets.
Mini-Circuits ships 70% to 80% of its RF products directly to the US for use in the development of 4G telecommunications infrastructure, and the remainder to MNCs in China."If there is no pick-up in the second quarter, then the year 2013 can be expected to be flat," he said.
Pentamaster Corp Bhd executive chairman C.B. Chuah, said more than 50% of the revenue for first quarter 2013 would be generated from the sales of test equipment used in the smartphone and tablet segment.
"About 40% of our products are shipped directly to the US market, 30% to the MNCs in China, and another 30% to the MNCs in Asia Pacific," he shared. We're responsible for the installation and maintenance of solar inverter.
Chuah said the group had, in late 2012, secured orders for its test equipment used for handling and testing micro-electro-mechanical sensors or MEMS, timing device chips and LED used in smartphones and tablets.

Greenburgh capital plan includes LED lights
Billed
by town Supervisor Paul Feiner as the most significant capital budget
of his 20-year tenure, Greenburgh officials are considering a combined
$11.9 million proposal calling for a townwide reassessment,We have a

"These are major policy issues — not just infrastructure improvements," Feiner told The Journal News. "The goal of this budget is to help us achieve more savings over the long term."
The 2013 capital budget — a proposed list of borrowings for capital expenses that Greenburgh anticipates during the calendar year — includes three separate budgets covering the entire town, unincorporated area and water department. The Town Board is expected to vote on Feiner's recommendations in May.
Town officials anticipate the budget would fund an initial $1.5 million for a revaluation of all real property in Greenburgh as part of a reassessment done in conjunction with other communities in Westchester.
Feiner has recommended $500,000 be appropriated for LED street lights, which he says will help the town cut down on energy costs, and could produce an annual savings of $300,000, according to a recent study.
The budget includes $350,000 for an automated garbage truck with a mechanical arm, and $25,000 for an upgrade of the security system at the Theodore D. We're responsible for the installation and maintenance of solar inverter. Young Community Center, which had 19 laptops stolen from it last summer.
There is also $3.5 million allocated to replace the water-meter system, which often provides inaccurate bills for customers.
In a symbolic gesture, environment-conscious people switched off their lights between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm to observe 'Earth Hour' on Saturday evening across the world. The gesture was meant to focus attention on global warming and to stress on energy conservation. But, there are individuals who instead of symbolism have adopted energy conservation in their day to day life 24x7 and 365 days a year.
