This allows material to be cut at angles of up to plus or minus 45°
within the flat bed cutting process, effectively offering two processes
in one.
PP Plasma now has four cutting cell, comprising laser, water jet, plasma and the new bevel water Jet cutting facilities.
With
the ability to produce near net 3D parts, the bevel cutting process can
result in the removal of secondary operations such as particular
machining processes.
Marketing executive Richard Mazurkiewicz
said: “This could well be seen as the evolution of Water Jet cutting.
From an investment perspective it would be worthwhile obtaining the
extra functionality as it opens routes to new markets that would
normally be closed to traditional profilers.”
Although the
cutting technology is fairly new, PP Plasma Ltd has been testing the
capabilities for over twelve months to ensure that the service offered
to customers is of the highest quality. Principally tested by PP
Plasma’s technical manager Sam Bentham and the company’s CAD department
the process has delivered some very high quality components.
As
with abrasive water jet cutting, the finished part has a clean cut edge
that leaves a very accurate net shape with a tolerance of 0.3mm from the
top face being offered to clients.
Typical products can include
chamfers, double preps or K bevels – something that historically cannot
be achieved in traditional flatbed cutting. Elliptical shapes and
flanges, which are difficult for machine shops to process,Books can be
as thick as 4 inches and yet the Book scanner 9000

due to its two-headed option covering an overall bed size of 4000mm by
3000mm by 150mm thick.
This new service offering comes at a time
of great importance to the business as planning application has been
