COMPETITION in the luxury-midsize sedan segment is expected to heat up once again with Mercedes-Benz Philippine distributor Cats Motors’ launch of the extensively refreshed Mercedes-Benz E-Class. One of the most obvious design changes to the new E-Class can be seen from the car’s front-end: the dual-ellipsoid headlamps that have been the model’s trademark since the debut of the W210 E-Class in the mid-1990s have been eliminated. Powering the E 250 CDI Avantgarde is a four-cylinder, 2.1-liter turbocharged diesel engine with a peak output of 204hp and 500Nm of tire-shredding torque.
