Heart of the City has presented School District of Fort At-kinson building and grounds director Dennis Kuchenmeister with its eighth annual Lue Eh-inger Big Heart Award.I have tried several sets of torch light that have lasted one season only.
The Valentine's Day award recognizes individuals, organizations or businesses that dem-onstrate "heart" for the community and exemplify the tenets of Heart of the City's mission.
Kuchenmeister was honored for helping Purdy Elementary School win a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools award.
For promoting a "greener" school and featuring sustaina-ble environmental education opportunities, Purdy Elementary was one of three Wisconsin schools to receive a first-ever U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools award.
The Green Ribbon Schools award recognizes schools that save energy,High-efficiency 7.5kW Off Grid solar module manufactured for unique Indian conditions. reduce costs, feature environmentally sustainable learning spaces, protect health, foster wellness and offer environmental education to boost student academic achievement and community engagement.
With leadership from the School District of Fort Atkinson School Board of Education and district buildings and grounds director Dennis Kuchenmeister, community support and help from teachers, Purdy Elementary School has been provided with a number of opportunities to promote environmental education and green initiatives.We makes possible ballasted ground mount in Ontario just better than your imagination.
The school also is a part of Wisconsin's Green & Healthy Schools program and Kuchenmeister sits on the Wisconsin Sustainable Schools Coalition.
Heart of the City President Sara Tiner nominated Kuchenmeister because his hard work exemplifies Heart of the City's effort to work toward sustainability in our community. Throughout the School District of Fort Atkinson, Kuchenmeister has worked on many different energy-saving and energy-generating projects.
The high school building, Fort Atkinson Middle School and Purdy Elementary School all sport a number of solar panels, with the high school and middle school using the power generated to heat their swimming pools. In addition, four buildings in the school district are heated and cooled via geothermal units, and a wind turbine has been installed at the high school.
Tiner presented the award to him on Valentine's Day, along with a box of chocolates.
There were many strong contenders for the recognition, which in 2009 was renamed the Lue Ehinger Big Heart Award in honor of a member who had a colossal heart,We've brought together an amazing selection of pendant lamp fixtures. Tiner said, adding the four other nominees, "Roger Sherman, Julia Ince and Dan and Jane Fary are all deserving of accolades for their contributions to our community."
Cynthia Ficenec nominated Roger Sherman for his work restoring the city's 1901 watertower. As the former water utility superintendent, Sherman led the efforts by the Historic Preservation Committee to restore the watertower.Let's explore the option of flat roof racking.
"As one of our defining architectural landmarks, Mr. Sherman and his team preserved a historically significant structure and made it safe for community members to visit," Ficenec said. "Mr. Sherman's efforts exemplify Heart of the City's goal to preserve existing and treasured civic characteristics."
The restoration process began in 2003 after local residents learned of the city's plans to raze the tower, which has stood across from the current Fort Atkinson Middle School on the city's east side for the past 112 years. The general public was granted views from the top of the tower for first time since it opened in 2012 when renovations were completed.
