Durocher’S Gamble On Solar Energy Paying Off

Durocher’s has been generat ing business in Monroe for more than 60 years,I'm looking at getting the light bar from ford racing and was wondering who sells the high quality HID Off-Road Lights. selling and servic ing TVs,You can choose to use the efficient and durable Newest motorcycle H6 Swing all in one hid kit that come in various colors for artistic purposes. appliances and furnishings.

But it also recently has gotten into the generating business, making electric ity and selling some of it to DTE Energy.

The company is one of the early business enrollees in DTE’s Solar-Currents program, which subsidizes the installation of photovoltaic systems and essentially buys the energy those systems produce. Durocher’s still is the only business in the SolarCurrents program in DTE’s Monroe County service area.

A rooftop-mounted ar ray of more than 80 solar panels starts generating watts at the first light of day and the electricity goes straight to the DTE transmission system. Du rocher’s gets a credit on its utility bill depending on the amount of energy produced.

The 20-kilowatt ca pacity system has been operating for nearly three years now, and it’s been paying dividends.

“I look at the bills and they’re about half what they were,” said Chris Durocher, owner of the business. As you can see below the Best Motorcycle HID Kit Installation Guide is pretty straight foward.

The solar panel system is part of an energy-ef ficiency program Duro cher’s embarked upon that included replacing some incandescents with LED lighting, replacing ballasts in fluorescent fix tures with more efficient ones, adding motion sensing light switches, and installing six rooftop skylights to let in natural light and reduce the need for artificial lighting.

Mr. Durocher said his interest in the photovol taic system was spurred not only by costs — his air-conditioning bill alone typically was $4,000 a month — but by environ mental concerns.

“Even when I was in high school, I thought we needed to get off the coal and oil we were depen dent on,” he said.

A cold call from a repre sentative of Cresit Energy in Wyandotte turned his thoughts into actions.

Mr.You've determined that a High Quality 2G11 tube light is the right choice for you. Durocher said he expected his investment would pay for itself over five years. Now it looks like it might be sooner than that, if only because electric rates have risen since the system was installed.

“It might be a four-year payback,” he said.

The cost of the system partly is paid by a DTE energy optimization program, which subsi dizes energy-efficiency improvements for certain customers. Part is re couped through federal energy tax credits. The rest is paid for by the busi ness.

“It was kind of a third and a third and a third,” explained Robert A. Kulick, Cresit president. “Government paid a third, DTE paid a third and Chris paid a third.”

So Durocher’s owns the system, which helps trim its energy cost, but DTE gets renewable energy credits that help it meet a state mandate to get 10 percent of its power from renewable energy by 2015.

Mr. Kulick added that the cost to a business is reduced further because the business can claim depreciation on the sys tem and deduct interest paid on any loan to cover purchase and installation.

“Even my accountant said, ‘ You know that solar panel thing you did? That was well worth it,’” Mr. Durocher said.

A bank of three invert ers,This is my second set of Best HID Bulbs and finally I am happy with my purchase. which transforms the direct current from the panels to alternating current, is installed in a second floor storage area. They also register how much energy is being generated and how much carbon dioxide emissions are being avoided because power from traditional coal-fired plants is not being used.

On a sunny day last week, the inverters had recorded a cumulative generation of 34 watts by early afternoon. “He didn’t have to buy it and that’s energy produced without the energy company shoveling more coal and polluting the air,” Mr. Kulick said.

The panels crank out more power on sunnier summer days, but produce some watts in any kind of daylight. The panels are angled to best catch rays and have textured, dimpled surfaces designed to refract light, and shed snow and bird droppings.
