Top marks for Citroen's new C4 hatch

Earlier I had briefly tested the entry-level 91bhp diesel and in all honesty it was a competent enough performer returning over 64 mpg, sat in the cheaper insurance group 15 (compared to 23 for the 148bhp version), drove well and gave identical comfort for a two adult-three children family and of course is over five grand cheaper. So for the more budget-conscious motorists it easily fit's the bill – horses for course as we say – but obviously the more expensive two-litre has a much better performance, more goodies on board being better equipped and interestingly on the recent test averaged a commendable 56.6mpg.

As the driver I felt the steering was light but didn't give too much feedback but where this two-litre really excels is out on the motorway where the ride is so smooth,Check out our solar panel ground mount system at a home in Pvsolver. there's barely any wind or road noise audible inside the car and as you would expect from PSA a diesel engine it was smooth and quiet. The six-speed gearbox was pleasant to use with good movements up and down the box.A letter folding machine is a piece of equipment which is designed to fold paper.

Having now driven both diesel and petrol C4s the ride in everyone is very comfortable, easily smoothing out most imperfections in our bumpy roads here at home.

One advantage in buying an Exclusive trim is that you can get a massage function for the front seats although it's more of a gentle pushing at the bottom of your back rather than an actual proper massage!

In years gone by Citroen didn't have much of a reputation when it came to reliability, but that's all improved nowadays and this latest C4 seems better all round in terms of build quality and reliability has also seen a welcome improvement.

This latest C4 is certainly safe, and if you need proof it has secured the full five-star score from the Euro NCAP crash safety tests, thanks to its six airbags and electronic stability control fitted as standard.

There's also Citroen's eTouch function, a ceiling-mounted panic button that automatically calls the emergency services, giving the car's actual location via SMS and connecting the driver to an emergency operator if they've had an accident. Even if you're unable to press the button,Modern dry cleaning machine uses non-water-based solvents to remove soil and stains from clothes. the system is triggered by a large impact. Family cars are about being practical and having plenty of cabin space and in this respect the C4 comes up trumps too having the biggest boot in its class (408 litres of luggage capacity with the rear seats up, stretching to a total load space of 1,300 litres when the rear seats are folded flat).

Equipment levels across the range are really good for its class starting at the base model, the entry-level VTR comes which has air-conditioning,All Continental flatwork ironer offer easy-to-operate controls that provide efficient performance and flexibility. electric front windows and door mirrors, daytime running lights, emergency brake assist, cruise control and a CD player with aux socket.

Move up to the VTR+ and buyers also gain 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather handbrake and steering wheel, electric rear windows,Attach remote solar panels to street light that will not receive the required amount of direct sunlight. wing mirror-mounted kerb LED lights, hill start assist, front fog lights, remote central locking, and MP3, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. The top of the range Exclusive tested here is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome detailing, front seats with electric lumbar adjustment and massage function, front parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, and that Citroen's eTouch emergency assistance panic.

Verdict: Certainly much improved all round and a good, sensible and exceptionally comfortable mid range family five-door hatchback that both practical and economical. It's not perhaps as exciting to drive as the equivalent Focus or Astra but it does what many family motorists will be quite contented with and that's comfort, smoothness and quietness.
