Rare Pairpoint Puffy Owl lamp may fly

James D. Julia Auctioneers is kicking off its summer season with two back-to-back auctions from its fine glass and lamp division and its toy, doll and advertising division. The former of the two starts the event on June 19-20 with a two-day sale featuring many Tiffany lamps, French cameo glass, fine art glass, and more.

Among a broad array of leaded and non-leaded lamps is a select offering of Pairpoint lamps, which includes a rare Pairpoint Puffy lamp, depicting a three-dimensional figural owl. This is only the eighth example known to exist. The lamp consists of a blown glass shade in the form of an owl’s head with piercing yellow eyes with large pupils. The shade rests upon a detailed bronze full bodied owl figural base (estimate $40,000-$60,000). Other items in this category include a rare Pairpoint Puffy grape lamp: Resting on an original matching grape cluster base it carries an estimate of $10,000 to $15,000, while a Pairpoint Puffy apple tree on its tree trunk base is expected to fetch between $20,000 and $30,000.

A massive Tiffany curtain border floor lamp with an intricate geometric pattern, topped with a bronze pigtail cap carries expectations of $80,000 to $100,000. A Tiffany geometric leaded chandelier with an inverted dome bordered in bands of green Tiffany chunk jewels finished with bronze rope twists and chain accents, pictured in “Tiffany Lamps and Metalworks” by Alistair Duncan,Laser engravers and Laser engraver systems and supplies to start your own lasering cutting engraving marking etching business. comes with an estimate of $35,000 to $45,000. A Tiffany poppy leaded table lamp with a pattern consisting of delicate polychrome flowers and a library base may see $35,000 to $45,000.

In addition to the above offerings, an outstanding 22 diameter Porcelli leaded glass lamp,It enables washer extractor to communicate with chemical pumping machines. will also be included. The lamp features a transitional, tiled background of deep green to blue art glass bordered by rows of textured green glass at the top middle and bottom of the design. The garland arrangement of multicolored floral blooms and leaves sits on a bed of fractured/confetti style glass that sets the surrounding bouquet in dimensional relief. The lamp rests on an original “Onion” style bronze table base finished in a rich brown-green patina that it shares with the metalwork on the shade. Both are signed.

Since 2009, Porcelli lamps have realized prices well over their pre-sale auction estimates, establishing a ready collectors’ market for contemporary works in the American Style of leaded glass lamp work.

Complementing the parade of cameo glass, Julia’s will present a fine collection of Pate de Verre from a private Midwest collection including both G. Argy Rousseau and A. An Rousseau apple picker vase is forecasted to bring $8,000-$12,000.

When Rachael Powell was unable to find a lampshade that suited her taste, she turned her hand at making them herself.

‘Most of the lampshades on offer were bland and uninteresting,’ she says. ‘I wanted something contemporary, vintage and quirky all at the same time. It doesn’t worry me about matching things around the home, if I like it, I like it.’

Powell, from Somerset, decided to take a sewing class and from there she started experimenting with different lampshade shapes and designs. Word soon spread and before long she was taking orders from friends and family. ‘My friends were really supportive and loved what I produced. There was no clear favourite design as different people like different things,The world’s most efficient and cost effective solar street lighting? but my Scandinavian Tilda designs proved very popular.’
