The
Traffic Safety Committee voted unanimously Friday to install crosswalk
flashing lights at Broadway Road and North 20th Street in response to a
young girl being hit by a car while crossing Broadway Road.
The
city will install the lights at the already existing crosswalk, which
the girl was using to cross the road when coming from Mineral Springs
Park. The city will not have to purchase the flashing lights because it
already has a set that previously were used at Parkway Drive at the
entrance to Coal Miners’ Park.
On
Wednesday, an 11-year-old girl stepped into the crosswalk where one
vehicle already had stopped for her to cross. A second vehicle did not
stop and hit the child.
The city painted the white crosswalk lines two years ago, according to City Engineer Mike Guerra.

was released from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on Thursday. She has
stitches above one eye, stitches for a cut on the head, bruises and road
rash over areas of her body. He said she will make a full recovery from
the physical injuries,I'm not sure how high quality LED Daytime Running Lights fit into that equation if they are left on. but he worries about her “longtime fear” of crossing a street.
“She’s doing great,Get the led fog lamp products information, find Best LED Fog Lamp Manufacturers, manufacturers on the hot channel.” said McCloud. You've determined that a High Quality 2G11 tube light is the right choice for you. “She is pretty beat up.
“She
isn’t able to do much — just lie around at this point. She’ll be fine.
I’m pretty happy that the city went ahead and decided to (install lights
there). It is long overdue. The officer who responded to the accident
said there have been four or five accidents there over the years.”
The
painted crosswalk is difficult to see when approaching it on the
street. The lights will be button activated by pedestrians. Once the
lights commence flashing mode, the pedestrian can cross. The lights are
solar powered, so the city will have no electricity expenses.
Installation will cost approximately $2,000.
Fire
Chief Greg Nelson said the lights will be button-activated because
drivers get used to constantly flashing lights and typically drive
through them without looking.
City
Manager Joe Wuellner told the committee that the crosswalk is used a
lot by children coming to and from Pekin Housing when coming and going
from the park.LED ceiling lamp is a kind of High Quality LED DownLight that
is installed inside the room. Wuellner said that even though there is a
crosswalk the crossing can be difficult for drivers and pedestrians
because Broadway Road is a five-lane highway.
3M’s
“LED Advanced Light”received a gold award in the lighting category
while the “3M Molecular Detection System” earned a silver award in the
diagnostic/analytic systems category.
The
3M LED light — the company’s first-ever bulb — is appropriate for an
innovation award named after incandescent light-bulb inventor Thomas
Edison. The 3M light provides an option that’s just as bright as a
traditional bulb, lasts up to 25 years, saves energy and provides “a
more friendly and functional light source at a fraction of the energy,”
said Ray Johnston, a scientist for the 3M electronics and energy group
lab. “It’s beyond meaningful to receive an award associated with Thomas
Edison, someone regarded as the father of the light bulb.”
